The main body section was taken off the chassis and placed on a dolly so that structural repairs and other work in hard-to-reach areas could be performed. After 35 years of abuse and crude modifications, there were parts of the fiberglass body that were in extremely poor condition. These were areas that are not visible when casually viewing the car from 20 feet or more, but if you got up close and looked inside the car, you would see, for example, large holes in the floor, holes in the front bulkhead almost large enough to put your hand through, and holes in the dash where controls that are no longer used were previously located.
A fair amount of time was put in filling holes and smoothing the outside surface of the front bulkhead (AKA the footbox). After I got this surface reasonably smooth, I sprayed it with Eastwood satin Chassis Black paint.
